The following is the Fort McHenry Composite Squadron meeting policy when
weather is questionable.
Our facility, Bloomsbury Community Center, is part of the Baltimore County
Parks and Rec Department, and as such is part of the Baltimore County
Government.
Fort McHenry Squadron, or other CAP activities at the Center, follow these
policies.
-
Safety first..in any weather if you do not feel safe in getting to a
Squadron meeting or activity then do not attempt to travel. Be sure to call
in through your chain of command.
-
Weekdays:
-
If Baltimore County Schools (either the entire county or just the
southern half) is closed for the full day, dismisses early, or cancels
evening activities, CAP activities, including Ft. McHenry Squadron meetings,
will be canceled. You do not need to call in.
-
If a snow emergency is declared for Baltimore County after schools are
closed for the day CAP activities at the Center will be canceled. You do not
need to call in.
-
If the weather is questionable and Baltimore County Schools remain
open, be sure to check radio/TV or their on-line websites to see if
Baltimore County Parks and Recreation Department has canceled activities.
The Parks and Rec Dept may cancel activities independently of Baltimore
County Schools, but will follow the policies in 2.1 and 2.2 first.
-
Weekends
-
In the event of any significant accumulation of snow and/or ice after
3:30pm on Friday, Baltimore County recreation programming, activities, or
meetings will be canceled whenever any phase of the Snow Emergency Plan is
in effect for Baltimore County. CAP activities at the Center will be
canceled.
-
To check if there is a Snow Emergency Plan in effect for Baltimore
County, you can go to their website at http://www.co.ba.md.us/. If the
website indicates a snow emergency in effect, CAP activities will be
canceled. Information may also be available at WBAL radio (1090AM) at least
during the week.
-
Second, for Ft McHenry meetings, activities, or hosted events, a best effort will be made to place a message on Maj. Barth's home phone answering machine to give you status. That number is 301 490-8331. We will also try to post an email message as early as possible.
-
Project Officers for CAP activities being held at Bloomsbury Community
Center should ensure that attendees are aware of this weather policy.
Again...safety first. if in doubt then do not travel. And that means
ability to safely travel both to and return home from the Squadron meeting
or CAP activity. Two hours can make a significant difference in travel
conditions.
